Mrs Johnson's 1952 4th Grade Class Bishopville Grammar School

Tony Tedder provided this picture... He writes: This was my 4th grade class at Bishopville Grammar School. Mrs. Johnson is the teacher and I think this is 1952. I am Anthony (Tony) Tedder and I am in the middle of the 4th row from the front. To my left in the picture are Wayne Holland,Nick West, and Colvin Laney. To my right are John Patterson, Raymond Watkins, and I'm not sure. Behind me to my left is David O'Kelley, to my right is Ralph McClendon. Also behind me are Hamer Parnell and look at Cleve Masad in the upper right. I think that might be Lamar Walker in the middle on the back row. I also see Scozzie and I see Libby Kennedy. Isn't that Nettie Grace Hawkins on the front row. I'll remember more of these tomorrow I am sure. Give us some names folks.

(Not Lamar Walker,

Lee County's Future Farmers?

Contributed by Ellie Price, Jr.

The Farmall Cub was introduced that year for the special price of $548.00. I recall our chapter purchased a small disc harrow with the tractor.

We had a small garden which we plowed with the tractor, a pig chain and chicken chain, and we went on many field trip in Mr. Harris’s car, which he called his “A”.

It was a Ford A Model coupe with rumble seat in back. Us boys visited many farms learning to prune fruit trees, castrate pigs make Capons out of roosters and other things.

Those were the good old days when no one even thought about falling out of that little car.

We learned a lot from this fine young dedicated teacher from Clemson.

This is the FFA class of 1949. Far left, Henry Harris, (teacher) third from left, Bobby Skinner, front row wearing checkered shirt, Ellie Price, Jr. front row with leg on tractor, probably Elijah Stevens, far right with leg on tractor, Charles McLendon.

This new Farmall Cub was purchased new in 1948 from Laney farm equipment by our FFA chapter. Contributed by Ellie E. Price <<<<<< Click Here for more from Ellie
