Seniors can go for stronger flu shot - Health & Fitness - TheState.com

Seniors can go for stronger flu shot - Health & Fitness - TheState.com: "Seniors can go for stronger flu shot
For the first time, seniors are being offered a super shot called Fluzone High-Dose that gives their immune systems a high-octane boost.
Fluzone High-Dose contains four times the flu-fighting antigens of the standard vaccine. It’s designed for seniors because immune systems weaken with age and flu deaths typically are more likely in older folks.
The souped-up formulation has the approval of the federal Food and Drug Administration, which is monitoring it closely this season. Seniors still have the option of getting the standard flu shot formula, and the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention doesn’t make a recommendation either way."
