LETTER TO THE EDITOR: What about the private DeMint? | SCNOW

LETTER TO THE EDITOR: What about the private DeMint? | SCNOW

U.S. Sen. Jim DeMint said unmarried pregnant women shouldn’t be teachers? But if her boyfriend happens to be a teacher, I guess he can keep his job, as long as he doesn’t talk about it.

DeMint believes in the classic, hypocritical, old-fashioned, Southern conservative politics: pray in public, play in private.

In public, Republican Sen. Strom Thurmond denounced “mixing the races.” In private he fathered a child with a black woman, denying it til the day he died.

In public, Gov. Mark Sanford is a “family values” conservative. In private, he betrayed his family and abandoned his state for an affair with a woman in Argentina.

In public, 66-year-old Republican assistant state attorney general Roland Corning was a “good family man,” a “holy man.” In private, he spent his lunch break parked at a cemetery with an 18-year-old stripper, a bag of sex toys and a bottle of Viagra.

We know the public Jim DeMint. What about the private Jim DeMint?
