Lee Co. Chamber of Commerce Ask for More Dues wltx.com | Columbia, SC News, Weather and Sports |: "Bishopville, SC (WLTX) - The Lee County Chamber of Commerice is asking their members to pay more dues to help them keep their doors open.

The chamber hoped to hold a raffle to cover operational expenses, but had to cancel it after it was deemed illegal a few weeks ago.

Chamber officials say they're still struggling financially to stay open.

They're now planning to ask members to pay a 60 percent increase on their annual dues to help raise money.

The county is also gearing up to host their annual cotton festival, and they're hoping to cash in on some of the events and vendors.

The chamber says next year Lee County and the City of Bishopville will add more to their budget to keep this from happening."
