Gamecocks Go Bust :: FITSNews

Gamecocks Go Bust :: FITSNews: "With the game on the line, Spurrier chose to bench Garcia in favor of true freshman Connor Shaw. And while the young signal-caller showed off his arm strength on two drives in the game’s waning moments, he also ended both drives with interceptions – one right into the arms of Auburn linebacker Josh Bynes.
Shaw finished 4 of 8 for 70 yards – with the two picks.
The lone bright spot for USC? Sophomore wide receiver Alshon Jeffery. The All-America candidate caught 8 passes for a career-high 192 yards and two touchdowns.
South Carolina had a rough week. On Monday, the team learned that former Gamecock wide receiver Kenny McKinley – a second-year player with the Denver Broncos – had died of an apparent suicide in his suburban Colorado home. A day before McKinley’s death, the brother of USC defensive back C.C. Whitlock was fatally shot.
USC will have next Saturday off before welcoming top-ranked Alabama to Columbia, S.C. on October 9."
