The Lee County Cotton Festival is kicking off its 33rd year of family fun for everyone Friday, September 17th, 2010 beginning at 6 p.m. and lasting until 11 p.m..
This years festival will feature the services of Palmetto Amusements and Pleasant Valley Inflatables, so there will be multiple carnival rides and adventures for children and adults, vendors galore featuring food and crafts and even an airbrush tattoo artist for the bold and adventuresome.
Folks may want to bring their clodhoppers for there definitely will be street dancing featuring live music, and of course the Cotton Festival Parade all in celebration of the harvest of "king cotton," which for years, has been the county's primary crop!
This year well known and admired WIS TV personality Joe Pinner, known also for his alter ego Mr. Knozit, will serve as the parade's Grand Marshall. The parade starts at 2 p.m.
Special note: Mr. Pinner joined WIS TV May 27, 1963 and the renowned "Mr. Knozit" show was born. If you were ever on the Mr. Knozit show from 1963 through 2000 you are invited to ride on the float with him; so bring your kids, grandkids and great-grandkids... it will be a great experience for all and all are encouraged to reunite with Mr. Knozit on the Grand Marshall's float.
Beginning at 7pm and lasting until 11pm, Friday's Street Dance will feature the rock, blues, jazz and reggae sounds of Lucia & Levi;
