In this case, it’s simply that the businesses simply aren’t there which would support the Chamber of Commerce. And for individuals to attempt to keep the Chamber in business would essentially be pointless because if there’s no business in Bishopville, there’s no work for the Chamber.

In simple economic terms, there is no demand for the Chamber to supply.

However, from a morale standpoint, what does it say for the town if the Chamber of Commerce goes out of business? It simply reminds everybody of what we already know: Bishopville isn’t what it once was and there’s a decent chance it never will be again.

To maintain a chamber says “If we can attract business, then we have someone to promote it!” And for that reason, I encourage you to support any efforts that are made to keep the Lee County Chamber of Commerce a functioning part of Bishopville life..." full story
