L.L. "Buddy" Wilson, Sr., 87, passed away Thursday, July 8, 2010 at Kershaw Health Medical Center in Camden after a brief illness.
Born July 28, 1922 in Camden, he was a son of the late Robert Hampton Wilson and the late Thursey Annette Wilson. He was the last of ten children born to the couple. He was a veteran of World War II and served in Naval Aviation in the Pacific Theatre of combat. He operated Wilson Grain Company in Bishopville for many years until his retirement.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 64 years, Dorothy Workman Wilson of the home; a son, L.L. "Buddy" Wilson, Jr. of Columbia; a daughter, S. Pamela Wilson of Columbia; beloved sister-in-law, Margie W. Gay of West Columbia; two grandsons, Kemp Duncan Wilson, Sr. and wife, Kaley, and V. Hunter Wilson, all of Columbia; two great-grandsons, Kemp Duncan Wilson, Jr. and Quade Hampton Wilson; and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 2 PM Sunday, July 11, 2010 at the Bishopville Presbyterian Church where Mr. Wilson was a lifelong member. Burial will be private.
The family will receive friends in the church sanctuary immediately following the service.
