"The U.S. government issued $20 bills with new security features a few years ago.
The most noticeable difference in the new currency is the subtle introduction of background colors, which makes it more burdensome for potential counterfeiters because it adds complexity to the bill.

This past Sunday, June 13, 2010 at 5:44 PM, Brenda Barker wrote me an e-mail:

I have a question that my husband Harry, and I have wondered about since I was a child but never asked.  Where did Scape Ore Swamp in Cedar Creek get it's name.  Would love to hear, or maybe you could tell me someone that might know.

From the Editor:

Hey Brenda,

I don't think you can find the truth of how the now infamous swamp in Lee County came to be known as Scape Ore Swamp. As best as I can tell one is left to make that determination on the merits... if you can find enough of them.

Check out this source from some of our Lee County elders who lived closer to the time the name (s) were being bounced around.

I sorta like the mystery of it all... and adding the legend of the Lizard Man is just icing on the cake!

However, there just may be someone out there who knows the truth. If so, Brenda and I would love to hear from you.

Thanks for writing Brenda...

Rawl to contest Senate primary loss to Alvin Greene - WIS News 10 - Columbia, South Carolina |

The former state lawmaker who himself is largely unknown to voters lost South Carolina's U.S. Senate Democratic primary to another unknown, military veteran is protesting the election results.

Be honest with yourself, did you even know who Vic Rawl was? Both are still mostly unknown throughout South Carolina but it is a safe bet that the lessor known Alvin Greene will emerge as the better known of the two simply because of the media coverage.

Capturing the Senate seat held by Jim DeMint may not be as far fetched as some political pontiffs state. Should the wheels of justice rule in favor of the military veteran and Alvin Greene's name remains on the ballot, voters in South Carolina may have some fun with this one... Just saying
